Beach wheelchair available at South Perth Foreshore

Date: 13/12/2017

A free-of-charge beach wheelchair is now available for adults and children with disability to use at the foreshore beach and water areas of Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth.

Jointly funded by the City of South Perth and Department of Communities (Disability Services), the modified wheelchair has large inflatable balloon-like tyres designed for use in outdoor environments and to enable easy and safe travel over rough terrain.

The beach wheelchair is stored in a shelter near the Scented Gardens, which connects to the accessible parking bays at the eastern end of South Perth Esplanade.

Bookings are not required, however, those who wish to use the wheelchair will need to collect a key from Mister Walker – a restaurant situated on the Mends Street Jetty and open from 7.30am, seven days a week.

Further information about the wheelchair and its conditions of use are available on the City of South Perth website.
